Seasons Greetings to all our listeners! I know things have been very quiet around here. This season began with a bang, as I produced five shows in September & October, but then trouble came calling. Two of my three computers died, as they all do eventually. I wasn't feeling well physically, so I had no other choice than to let it ride for a while.
As many of my regular listeners know, this 'pod casting' thing is still ahead of it's time, so, trying to find sponsors is hard work. I should have been doing that task last summer, but I wasn't well enough to cut my lawn, so needless to say, not much got done on the show promotion.
A few months ago, my son talked me into changing my diet. I cut out the grains - that means no bread, baking, or pasta, and no white rice. What? Also, no more sugar, except 'some' fruit. I told him he was nuts, but I did as he suggested. I began to feel an improvement within a few weeks, and also began to loose a few pounds. Now, eight weeks on, I am feeling good, and I haven't actually felt good since the heart attack in October '09. I gotta tell you, feeling good is new to me, and I like it alot!
I think dropping the show production also helped a lot, because thirty hours of work to produce one single episode of Zen Talk is stressful, especially doing all the technical work myself, which I am neither good at, nor enjoy. I was having nothing but trouble.
But now that I am feeling better, I am going to give it another try, but I'm going to go slow. First I have to re-install the software to record and edit the show. Then I have to try to do a few test calls, and see if i can record properly without any trouble.
As usual, I will record interviews with ordinary sled heads all over the planet, and try to give my few faithful sponsors a little TLC as well, by getting them to talk about their stuff. August 25 2011: Hey Listeners! It's time to fire up year six of the only weekly snowmobile radio talk show pod cast on the Internet. Summer is finally drawing to a close, and it's time to start getting the snowmobiles tuned up and ready for this winter. Remember to clean out the gas tank before you start your engine, do not do what I did last winter. Boom went my motor. I found out that the old gas probably had water in it because of the way they make gasoline now, with grain. Anyways, I need a new ride.
Back to our radio show. I am currently creating the first show of the year, featuring, you guessed it, Braaap TWENTY ELEVEN, the latest offering from producer Daniel Cedolia in Sault Ste Marie Ontario. Feb 27 2011, Zen is on the road. Yesterday he drove for 13 hours between Mossbank and Ignace Ontario, and is staying at the trading post Motel. There is about ten feet of snow piled up around the parking lot here, and a few feet in the woods. It has been -10C and colder here. Tomorrow night Zen will be at Daniel's place in Sault Ste Marie Ontario. zw

(Free-Press-Release.com) September 16, 2010 -- It's September the sixteenth, 2010, and it is snowing this morning in Southern Saskatchewan. The new falling snow is usually my cue to start writing, start talking on radio podcasts, and start ranting about what I see as the good, the bad, and the downright ugly in the snowmobile world, to my Internet audience. One of my favorite themes is, the importance of joining a club, and volounteering. The snowmobile infrastructure doesn't exist by magic, it takes hard work. We need strong young members to get working with the older guys. We have to pass the knowledge on.
Back in the early days, I had more traffic on my web sites, but even then, it was almost impossible to solicit a response from snowmobilers on the net. Was it fear? Was it disinterest? No. I think all along, the lack of enthusiastic response from blog readers and consumers of all my Internet content, has simply been a result of social conditioning, drilled into snowmobilers heads since their childhood. I'm talking about TV. We came home from school, sat on our butts, and watched TV. We were taught to be 'spectators'. Today, people just wanna sit and WATCH the pages they find on the Internet, and not surprisingly, are even too lazy to READ. We want Eye Candy.
In the same way, it's hard to get younger snowmobilers to join a club, and to support that club - support it with time, energy, AND money. Today's newcommer to the sport has no idea how much work goes into making snowmobiling possible. The point is, we need to wake up, and stop being lazy TV consuming robots, put down the beer can, and start getting involved in our snowmobile industry. Drive the groomer for a few shifts, rebuild bridges in the summer, fire up the bbq and help to raise money.Unless we get active in our clubs, and start joining the snowmobile lobby, our trails will soon vanish. It don't seem to matter that we have better, quieter, more efficient, non polluting snowmobiles, the environmentalists want to shut us down. They work hard at doing that. We also have to work just as hard to fight them. Big Brother wants to shut us down. He is gonna tax us to death, and regulate our sport right out of business. Ask the folks in Northern Wisconsin. The environment police handed out over two hundred tickets to sledders last winter, at a fun weekend gathering for everything from littering to having one beer. They want us OFF the land, period.
Wake up! Join, and Attend your local club meetings out there. Get involved. Read up on the issues. Don't trust the local news media, or the National News Media when it comes to our sport. Dig on the Internet for the truth and for answers - while we still have it. Learn the ropes from the Old Timers, before they disappear.
